The hotel is on first impressions is beautiful with a lovely reception area and a river runs through the grounds, again beautiful with the mountains always visible. The room was very nice, only drawback to the room was no air conditioning which is a not good as it was about 28 C. The showers were also “old school” and you stand in the bath. The bar area was lovely but small, unfriendly and limited. The bar staff were not friendly or helpful. This is something you don't see every day. We had plans for dinner so phoned to reserve a table in the restaurant and were advised it was a set 4 course menu at $160 per head. We found this difficult to believe so went to the restaurant itself where we found you didn’t have to have 4 courses and could have what you wanted. We booked and found that individual courses did not have prices so we ordered main courses not knowing the cost. We really didn’t want to eat too much as we weren’t that hungry but there wasn’t any alternative. The food was excellent but found to be, in my opinion, overpriced at $80 each. The restaurant service was outstanding and the drinks again, pricey. Could not really justify the cost of eating there again. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you have no transport as it isn’t walking distance to town and you may have to pay over the odds for food and drink. If touring the area by car this would be a lovely place to stay for 2 or 3 nights if you can get an appropriate room rate, so you can avoid the food and drink there.
